This course is ideal for anyone working in childcare – The Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid will give you the knowledge to act with confidence and how to deal with emergency situations in a safe and appropriate manner. This course covers the more common illnesses that occur in children as well as the types of incidents and accidents that could happen.
This course also counts as Qualification and Credit Framework credits, so it can help towards individual CPDs.

Course Content
Unit 1 – Paediatric Emergency First Aid
- The role of the Paediatric first aider
- Dealing with emergencies
- First aid for an unconscious casualty (including CPR training)
- First aid for choking, shock and bleeding
Unit 2 – Managing Paediatric Illness and Injury
- First aid for injuries to bones, joints and muscles (including head and spinal injuries)
- Medical emergencies like sudden poisoning and anaphylaxis, burns, bites and sudden poisoning
- Dealing with chronic medical conditions and sudden illnesses
- Records and reporting
This qualification is accredited by TQUK.

Is this the course for me?
The Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid is suitable for Child minders, Nursery and School staff (dealing with Foundation Stage) and anybody who deals with children and wants a more in-depth course. The Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid has been developed to meet the Practice Guidance in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) training requirements.
